Anne McClain, a United States Army Major and NASA astronaut, is a name etched in gold for her phenomenal feats in the world of space exploration. Her dedicated service in the US Army and her sharp analytical and technical skills helped her become a part of the elite 2013 NASA astronaut group.

Anne McClain was born in Spokane, Washington, on June 7, 1979. She was raised by supportive parents, who instilled in her a sense of discipline, determination, and hard work. She studied at the US Military Academy, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering. Her prestigious assignment included being deployed to Iraq as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where she flew more than 800 hours on combat missions. She also served as an OH-58 Instructor Pilot and a Squadron Maintenance Officer before being selected as an astronaut in 2013.
