Antoni Gaudí

Antoni Gaudí, a world-renowned architect, was born on June 25th, 1852, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. He is considered one of the most innovative architects of his time and was a leader of Catalan Modernism. Antoni Gaudí's works adorned Barcelona, including his magnum opus, the incomplete Sagrada Família. UNESCO named seven of his works World Heritage Sites between 1984 and 2005. Antoni Gaudí came from a family who had long lived in the province of Tarragona. His father was a coppersmith, and his maternal grandfather was a skilled miller. Antoni Gaudí was the youngest of five children and was one of only three to live into adulthood. He cited his paternal family's village of Riudoms as his birthplace, but his place of birth was never documented or confirmed. Antoni Gaudí received his education and training in architecture at the Llotja School and the Barcelona Higher School of Architecture.

During his career, Antoni Gaudí was admired for his unique designs, including the Casa Batlló and the Casa Milà. Besides, he also incorporated ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging, and carpentry into his designs.
