Ignaz Pleyel was a renowned composer and piano builder who left a lasting mark on the classical-era. Born on June 18, 1757, in Ruppersthal, Lower Austria, Pleyel was the 24th of 38 children in his family. Despite his family's humble background, Pleyel received a superior education, thanks to Count Ladislaus Erdődy's patronage, one of Austria's most influential nobles.

Pleyel made his mark as a musician early. He wrote the puppet opera "Die Fee Urgele" as part of his apprenticeship work in 1776, dazzling the audience with his creativity and virtuosity.
