About Jolanda Jones
Former City Councilwoman of Houston, Texas who became nationally recognized for her time as a contestant on Survivor: Palau. She was working as a lawyer and community activist when she was cast on the WE tv reality series Sisters in Law.
Before Fame
She became the first to win the Texas State 5A Team Championship as an individual in track and field. She was an All-American in both track and field and basketball in high school. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a degree in political science.
Trivia
She qualified for the 1996 US Olympic Trials, but tragedy struck two weeks before she was going to compete when her younger brother was murdered.
Family Life
She has a son named Jiovanni. Her father killed himself when she was just 13 months old, and she helped raise four more children that her mother would have while her mother worked.
