Peter DeBoer

Peter DeBoer is a Canadian NHL coach who has achieved great success in the world of hockey. Born on June 13, 1968, in Dunnville, Ontario, he has made a name for himself in the world of hockey and has become one of the most respected coaches in the NHL.

DeBoer began playing hockey in his youth and soon became a star player in his hometown. He continued to play in the Ontario Junior Hockey League before he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. Unfortunately, DeBoer never made it to the NHL as a player.

However, he did not let this setback hinder his dreams and he pursued a career in coaching after completing his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Detroit Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. Over the next few years, he coached several different teams in the OHL and was highly respected for his ability to develop young players.

In 2008, DeBoer was hired as the head coach for the Florida Panthers and quickly turned the team around, leading them to their first playoff appearance in eight years. He then went on to become the head coach of the New Jersey Devils and led them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2012. In 2015, he was hired as the head coach of the San Jose Sharks and took them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2016.
