Suharto

Suharto was a renowned world leader who served as the President of Indonesia from 1967 to 1998. He was born on June 8, 1921, in Kemusuk, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Suharto was raised in a Javanese peasant family and experienced a lot of instability in his early years. Despite this, he was a brilliant student and showed an early interest in military leadership.

At the age of nineteen, Suharto joined the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army and fought against Japanese soldiers during the World War II. After Indonesia's independence from the Netherlands in 1949, Suharto joined the Indonesian Army and quickly rose through the ranks. In 1965, he was appointed the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, and the following year, he overthrew Indonesia's first president, Sukarno. This marked the beginning of Suharto's "New Order" and his ascendancy to power.

Suharto's leadership was marked by numerous achievements, including the expansion of Indonesia's economy, infrastructure improvement, the promotion of foreign investment, and the eradication of communism. However, his leadership was also marked by high levels of government corruption, which ultimately led to his downfall in 1998.

Suharto was married to Siti Hartinah and together they raised seven children. His wife was a strong advocate for social issues and was heavily involved in charitable causes in Indonesia.
