Yiannis Boutaris

Yiannis Boutaris is a famous Greek politician primarily known for his role as the former Mayor of Thessaloniki, Greece. Born on April 13, 1942, in Thessaloniki, Yiannis Boutaris grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. His father, Stelios Boutaris, was the founder of the Boutari Group - one of the largest Greek companies in the wine industry.

Yiannis Boutaris received his education at the experimental elementary school of the University of Thessaloniki. Following that, he went on to study oenology, the art of wine-making, in France. Later, in 1976, he went on to acquire an MBA from IMD in Switzerland.
