Edward VIII

Edward VIII was a well-known figure in the history of the United Kingdom. Born on June 23, 1894, in Surrey, Edward VIII was the eldest son of King George V and Queen Mary. He was the heir apparent to the British throne since his birth. Edward VIII’s full name was Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David. He was famously known as the "King of Kings".

Edward VIII was known as an exceptional monarch who accomplished incredible things during his reign. He was proclaimed as the King of the United Kingdom on January 20, 1936, following the death of his father. However, his reign was short-lived. After just 11 months on the throne, he abdicated the throne on December 11, 1936, so that he could marry an American divorcee named Wallis Simpson. Edward’s younger brother, Albert, then took the throne and became King George VI.

Before becoming the King of the United Kingdom, Edward VIII served in the British Armed Forces during World War I, and he went on various foreign tours for his father. He received a good education and was a fluent speaker of French and German.
