Born on June 10, 1901, in Berlin, Germany, Frederick Loewe was an American composer of Austrian-Jewish descent who became one of the most celebrated figures in the musical theater industry.

Frederick's father was a famous operetta star, and music was in his blood from an early age. At just 13, he became the youngest piano soloist in the history of the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic. Frederick later honed his talents at the Berlin State Academy of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.

Loewe initially made his mark on Broadway in 1947 with the production of "Brigadoon," a collaboration with the lyricist Alan Jay Lerner. The two went on to create a string of successful musicals together, including "My Fair Lady" and "Camelot," both of which have become classics of the genre.
