Prince Philip

Born on June 10th, 1921, in Mon Repos, on the Greek island of Corfu, Prince Philip (born Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark) was a member of the Greek and Danish royal families. However, his family was exiled from Greece when he was just a child. He went on to attend school in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, before joining the Royal Navy in 1939.

While in the Royal Navy, he served in World War II and was awarded the Greek War Cross of Valour for his efforts in the Battle of Crete. He also became the first member of the British royal family to serve as a commissioned officer in the Royal Navy.

Prince Philip met his future wife, Elizabeth, in 1939, and the two began corresponding while he was away at sea. They eventually married in 1947 and had four children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.

Aside from his role as husband to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip was known for his philanthropic work and dedication to various charities and organizations. He was also a keen sportsman, having played polo and sailed competitively in his younger years. In 1956, he founded the Duke of Edinburgh Award, a program that encourages young people to develop personal skills and community service.

Prince Philip is also known for his role in various important events in British history, such as the Queen's coronation and the wedding of his son, Prince Charles to Princess Diana. He was also the first member of the royal family to fly in a helicopter, serving as Chairman of the Coronation Commission.

Prince Philip was known for his strong personality, often described as blunt and to the point. He was a dedicated family man, and while his relationship with his son, Prince Charles, was at times contentious, he remained a stalwart supporter of the British monarchy throughout his life.

Before becoming famous, Prince Philip faced numerous challenges, including exile from his home country and the early loss of his mother. Despite these difficulties, he persevered and went on to lead a remarkable life of service and dedication.

Throughout his life, Prince Philip was linked to many people in the industry, including numerous charities and organizations that he supported. He was also close friends with many members of the royal family, including his wife, Queen Elizabeth II.

In April 2021, Prince Philip passed away at the age of 99, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, philanthropy, and service to his country and his family.
